Winged Stag with Pentacles

This cool tattoo comes from Ileen, another awesome person referred by the equally awesome Jaspenelle. Ileen is the twentieth person to submit art to NeoPagan Ink! Yay! We're out of the teens! Ileen had this to say about her tattoo:
This picture is of my brand new tramp stamp! It's a stag's head (my spirit guide) with raven wings (my spirit name is White Raven), and two pentacles. It took over 2 hours to complete. The pentacles represent balance between the raven (air) and stag (earth) forces of my life. It is my very first tattoo.
The artist's name is Brandon, he works at The Missing Piece in Spokane, WA, and his work is freaking gorgeous!

Thanks to Ileen for submitting her art!

And a VERY special thanks to Jaspenelle for referring so many people to NeoPagan Ink!

Nautical Pentacle

This tattoo comes from Annie, who was referred here by Jaspenelle. Annie is the nineteenth person to submit art to NeoPagan Ink! Yay! Here's what she had to say about her tattoo:
for my first tattoo, i wanted a pentacle, but nautical stars also hold a lot of meaning for me, and i couldn't choose which one i wanted. it took me a short while to realize i could have both. done at Ace Tattoo in Golden Valley, Minnesota on august 11th of '07.

Thanks so much to Annie for submitting her art!

And a triple thanks to Jaspenelle for sending so many cool, tattooed folks over here!!

P.S. The link to the tattoo shop currently goes to a blank page. I've left the link in the hope that perhaps they're just updating their site at the moment.

Creation of the Universe

This cool tattoo comes from Muse en Lystrala, who is another groovy person referred by Jaspenelle! She is the seventeenth person to submit art to NeoPagan Ink! Yay! She had this to say about her tattoo:
This is a tattoo I designed myself. The black is for the void, the blue for the creation of the universe; the moon is for the goddess, the star for the god. This was inked by Jay at East Coast Tattoo and Piercing (Providence, RI) in December of 2004, and took approximately two and a half hours.

Thanks to Muse en Lystrala for submitting her art!

And another special thanks to Jaspenelle for referring her!

Lady Justice

This tattoo of the lady justice and an unknown angel comes from About.com and was created by Alfred Mencarelli of Tat2Times Studio.

Today is the festival day of the Roman goddess of Justice known as Justitia. Back in the ancient Roman times she wasn't blindfolded. That's an addition from much later times. But still, I figure a tattoo is a pretty neat way to honor her.

Jaspenelle's Tattoo Dream

Jaspenelle is this really cool, insightful gal that blogs over at Michael and Jaspenelle. She recently blogged about a dream she had that featured a fascinating tattoo. This isn't a regular feature here at NeoPagan Ink but I just had to share this. Jaspenelle writes:
The tattoo was bizarre to say the least. The central design of the tattoo was encircled by one of my sun designs but it seemed to be shifting around, as if the rays were real. Raveness was just finishing the centeral design when I came into the dream. It was a snake in the form of a waxing crescent moon. It’s tail was the top point of the crescent, the body coiled back and forth to make up the main middle section and the head was the bottom point. It was holding a lantern in its mouth. The tattoo was on my back, behind my manipura chakra (solar plexus.) I mention this chakra because I remember thinking specifically about that in the dream. The snake was a part of that chakra, that thought made more sense in the dream.

At one point I got distracted and when I looked back at the mirror the “moon” was full. The snake was coiled in a circle, head in the middle, it’s eyes made of stars. The eyes were more more then eyes though, they seemed to be holes in me and the stars were inside me, shining through. At the same time, the eyes seemed to be looking at me too. Not sure where the lantern was at this point, maybe outside the sun disk…

Though the dream was black and white, the tattoo seemed to shine like tarnished silver, but it hinted at gold tones too, the same hues as Mexican gold. The whole tattoo seemed to have a life of its own, but it was definitely drawn on my skin.

How cool is that? Doesn't that sound like an amazing tattoo? And a cool dream? I'm not very good at dream interpretation but if you are why not head over to her blog and share your thoughts?

Under Construction

I'm currently in the process of changing my template. After many trials and tribulations I think I've finally decided on this blue and white template. But I haven't got the the links, bloglists and other info and bits and pieces up yet. So, stay tuned. Or not, as this blog might look crappy for a few days.

FYI: I'm going to start linking to specific artists sites. So, if you know of some tattoo artists who seem to specialize in pagan or magical themes, or who may be pagans themselves, leave me a link won't you?

UPDATE: After two headache-filled nights of tinkering I think I'm finally done with the new template. I hope you all like it!

Snake & Apple

This gorgeous snake with the apple comes from Robin; she is the 15th person to submit art to NeoPagan Ink!! Yay! This tattoo was done by Teri at House of Ink in Venice Beach, California. Robin has this to say about her tattoo:
I have a thing about only letting womyn tattoo me. She is not only talented but gorgeous as well with a gentle hand. When I told the staff I wanted a snake wrapped around an apple as a symbol of womyns power and wisdom, with the snake protecting the apple, many wanted to make the snake all fangs out and mean, but she really got it when she drew it out.

Thanks to Robin for sharing her ink with us!!!
